Croatia

Coatia

Finally escaping the heat of Venice we headed for the slightly cooler climate of Croatia. Cooler in more respects than the climate. We met Mrs Grumpy at border control and 60 miles further on met her younger sister at the campsite. This was a little confusing as we had heard so much about the Croation/Slovenian hospitality. Perhaps we were using the wrong smile. Our first campsite was at Pineta, or as I prefer to call it 'rip off camping are us'. 33 Euro per night - internet extra, paid for by the hour! When we commented on the price as we left it was explained it was because we had a 'sea view'. Apparently there were cheaper pitches but you have to ask for them specifically. And the 'sea view'? Well it was through the 50/60 tents and caravans in front of us and yes I did see some blue but I'm sure it was someone's underwear flapping in the breeze rather than the rolling sea!

Moving swiftly on, we spent all day travelling south to a campsite that promised more. Camp Krka restored our confidence. Avery warm welcome and the staff at the family run site could not do enough to accommodate your stay. Terrific atmosphere and very relaxed, exactly the opposite to Pineta and internet included at 12 Euro per night. So, fellow travellers to Croatia, it pays to shop around. There are hundreds of sights here that don't appear in any of the internet sites or books we have looked at.

We have spent a very pleasant day relaxing here and going on an excursion arranged by the camp to the Krka National Park. Makes a change from driving ourselves. Pics as follows:

Yes! I continue to take photos when under the influence of vino!

I've never been fishing in my life but I think even I could catch one here!
